CHARLOTTE GRAY is an epic love story, adapted from Sebastian Faulk's best selling novel. Charlotte Gray (Cate Blanchett), a young Scottish woman, is a British Secret Service operative. When her boyfriend, a pilot, is reported missing in action, she sets about finding him. She is parachuted behind enemy lines into Nazi-occupied France during World War II. Only she knows she has a dual mission.

Officially, she has been recruited by the British Government on a special operation to liaise with the local resistance group in southern France, who are using guerrilla tactics against the occupying German army. Unofficially, she is searching for her lover, Peter, an English airman missing in action after his plane is shot down.

But her exploits with the French resistance bring her in contact with the enigmatic Julien Levade (Billy Crudup). As Charlotte becomes more deeply involved with the resistance fighters, led by Julien, she realises a far deeper romance is beginning and that her love of France and its people will change her life forever.
