Synopsis

THE TRUTH GAME, the second feature film from acclaimed independent writer / producer / director Simon Rumley (STRONG LANGUAGE), takes place over one evening in the lives of six friends... and one outsider. It's a story of love and friendship, trust and honesty, vulnerability and serious laughter.

Eddy, Lilly, Dan, Charlotte, Alex and Alan have known each other for years; they enjoy a raucous kind of friendship, never taking each other seriously but always being there for each other. They're all in their twenties or early thirties - some are becoming professionally successful, others have yet to start. Their concerns are similar - work, play, relationships, money, drugs, cars, pasta.

Eddy (Stuart Laing) and Lilly (Selina Giles) are mad for each other, married, happy, in love. He's a frustrated novelist and part-time drug dealer, she's Mrs Organised and socially adept; he's convinced he's going to be huge; she believes he's a genius but when there's a knock on the door and an old friend is standing there asking for help, values are re-assessed, relationships are questioned.

Dan (Paul Blackthorne) and Charlotte (Tania Emery) have been together for just over a year and have already tired of each other - he's gone off her in a big way, she's actually seeing somebody else; he's having an identity crisis and trying to think of a way of getting rid of her; she's having a great time and trying to think of a way of getting rid of him.

Alex (Jennifer White) and Alan (Thomas Fisher) are totally there for each other and share a unique sense of humour; he's as shy as she is outgoing; he tolerates their friends but finds at least one of them intolerable while she genuinely enjoys their company; he's currently being even more supportive than usual because she's just discovered she's very ill.

Everyone goes round to Eddy and Lilly's one night for an evening of eating, drinking and talking, something that happens in thousands of households across the land on any night of the week. But on this particular evening, the six people who think they know each other so well have some startling revelations to make about themselves - and each other. Truth and honesty become the topics of the evening and both take unpredictable swerves along the road to happiness.
