Synopsis

TORTILLA SOUP is the story of Martin Naranjo (Hector Elizondo) - a retired, widowed, Mexican-American chef who cannot taste anything and lives in LA with his three beautiful daughters. He passionately loves to cook meals for his family and uphold the traditional sit-down meal at dinner times, which equally brings all the family together to enjoy his cooking and discuss family matters.

However his daughters are all searching for greater fulfilment outside of their family. Maribel (Tamara Mello), studying at college is fed up with the singles scene and wants to have a long-term relationship with someone. Carmen (Jacqueline Obradors) is a forthright businesswoman but is becoming increasingly annoyed by the way her boyfriend is easily distracted by other women. Lastly Leticia (Elizabeth Pena) a school teacher, who has suppressed her own romantic feelings, now longs for a meaningful, loving relationship.

Then their father meets an outgoing, vivacious, divorced woman, which starts a trend in the family as each of his daughters start to find someone else who will give them the fulfillment they are missing and spice up their lives.
