Synopsis

At first Julia (Laura Regan) doesn't take her childhood friend Billy's (Jon Abrahams) crazy ramblings seriously. It sounds like nonsense as he keeps bringing up the horrible night terrors they both used to suffer from as kids, all the while mysteriously telling her to be beware of THEM. Julia has no idea who - or - what he is talking about. He nervously warns her to watch out for signs that THEY are near.

Julia, however, is bright and independent, not the type of young woman who worries about things that go bump in the night. Between spending time with her sexy EMT boyfriend, Paul (Marc Blucas) and finishing up grad school, the popular 24 year-old has enough to occupy her thoughts. When she suddenly begins having bad dreams and seeing spooky shapes in the shadows, she writes them off as an unfortunate reoccurrence of those childhood night terrors.

Unlike Julia, a couple of Billy's college friends, Sam (Ethan Embry) and Terry (Dagmara Dominczyk), are becoming more and more worried that Billy's fears are valid. Neither can shake the sense that something bad is happening and wonder if there could be a connection between their similar histories and whatever haunted Billy. As more and more frightening and unexplainable things begin to occur, Julia decides she wants answers herself.

Before long, the three are regularly visited by the shadowy evil that's crept into all of their lives. They hear noises, catch glimpses of inhuman creatures, and have very, very bad dreams. The monsters that terrorised Billy are suddenly all too real. As Julia becomes completely preoccupied with her terrible visions the people close to her start to think she's as mentally unstable as her childhood friend. Even Paul is convinced that his girlfriend's fears are all in her head.

Soon Julia only knows one thing for sure - when the lights go out, THEY are going to come after her. She is not losing her mind like everyone thinks; she's just desperate to survive... And there's no way she's going down without a fight.
