Swords drawn and adrenaline pumping D'Artagnan and his fellow musketeers are poised for battle. As always these legendary men of action are sworn to fight duels and courageously right wrongs. In this version, the musketeers are not only defying powers that be in 17th century France but they are also defying gravity. Peter Hyams action-adventure THE MUSKETEER weds the classic sword play and chivalry of Alexandre Dumas' 'The Three Musketeers' with the gravity defying dazzle of Hong Kong action choreography the films fight sequences mix eastern and western styles, using 17th century swashbuckling with samurai action. The result is a musketeer film like none ever seen before a new and thrilling vision of Alexandre Dumas' classic done in a style that is both timeless and contemporary.
THE MUSKETEER stars newcomer Justin Chambers as D'Artagnan, a dashing swordsman whose courage and wilful nature place him at odds with powerful forces in 17th century Paris. The film's international cast also includes Tim Roth as the ruthless Febre, Irish actor Stephen Rea as the ultra-political Cardinal Richelieu, French film icon Catherine Deneuve as the Queen of France and Mena Suvari as the beautiful Francesca who claims D'Artagnan's heart on site.
Physical action choreographer Xin Xin Xiong (TIME AND TIDE COLONY) joined Hyams behind-the-camera team to design the films fight sequences, some of the most breathtaking and imaginative since CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON. Now when the musketeers cross swords and vault palace walls they transcend space, gravity and the limits of their own bodies as they fight to save a nation and regain their honor.
