Cocky, rebellious and ambitious, Sean Okden (Adam Garcia), is determined to follow his passion to become a ground-breaking tap dancer, and not resign himself to a life toiling in the local steel mill like most of the men in his hometown. Despite Sean's astonishing talent, his no-holds-barred attitude has a cost. First, he incites the wrath of his widowed father -- who along with almost everyone in town, mocks his dreams. Then, he clashes over the affections of the beautiful Linda (Sophie Lee) with his brother Mitchell (Sam Worthington), whose "side" career is competing with local thugs in the stolen car business. But Sean perseveres. Casting aside the "top hat and tails" of traditional tap, he nails big metal cleats onto his workboots, cranks up the rock 'n' roll, and comes up with a kind of raw, driven, industrial-strength dance never seen before. He forges a new form of expression for a new generation.
